Fixed Frame Awnings

Awnings and Canopies are customized for the client. They are functional, economical, strong and stable. Most of our awnings and canopies consist of fabric stretched over and secured to a fixed galvanize steel frame secured by expansion bolts or laces. The frames are welded and with large awnings they are bolted together to make a single frame.

The Professional Awning Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has adopted standard names for awning and canopy styles and we outline the designs below:

VARIETY OF VALANCE STYLES

VALANCE / SCALLOP

There are different styles of valances for all awnings and canopies. Calderon #1 and Caribbean #2 are the most popular styles but you can choose any style you wish. The valances can be 8", 10" or 12" long as required. The awning valance comes with a ¼" binding. There are various biding colours from which to choose.

The Awning valance is easily removable on retractable awnings by removing the end cap and pulling the fabric out.

There is no additional cost for awning valance.

Measure the Width of the Window/Door from the inside left to inside right. Add 6” on either side of the awning: so add an additional 12” to the inside awning width to obtain your finished awning width.

Measure the drop of the window from the mounting point to the centerline of the window. The projection is the same as the drop. This represents the measurement for surface installation. For Recess Installation, measure the inside width from left to right and the drop from the mounting point to the centerline of the window. The projection is the same as the drop.

Regular projections are the same measurement as the drop; 36” or 48”; however you have to take into consideration the direction of the sun and rain and the style of the awning. For a dome, the drop and projection must be the same as the width.

For a Canopy measure the projection the length of the landing or open area that requires to be covered.

Considerations

  • The surface(s) should be level and flat – check the type of surface to which the awning will be attached to
  • The type of window/door - opening in or out
  • When measuring please consider all down pipes, air condition pipes, light fixtures, molding etc. that may affect your installation.
  • The purpose of the awning
  • The type of installation – recess or surface

Measure the height of the wall when Installing your awning. The most important requirement when measuring is the height. Ensure that there is enough space when the awning is extended for someone to walk under. Additionally keep in mind that the pitch of the awning should be at least 18 degrees.

The minimum height is 7’10” (to the bottom of the mounting bracket)

Measure the width of the awning from left to right based on the customers needs. Ensure that you have at least 8 inches of clear, unobstructed space where the awning will fit against the house. If placing the awning on the fascia board, the fascia board should be no less that 8” wide and should be well anchored to hold the awning.

Regular Width: 7’10”, 11’7”, 15’4”, 19’1”
Regular Projection: 8’, 10’, 11’6”

01001

Considerations

  • The height required when positioning between two points
  • Without a hood – 7’ 7/8” – with a hood 8’7/8”
  • A hood is not necessary if there is an overhead or soffit – the size of the hood is 2” larger than the awning itself
  • Remember the fabric is narrower than the total width of the awning
  • The width depends on the available space and the needs of the Customer - 6” on each side
  • The surface(s) should be level and flat – check the type of surface to which the awning will be attached
  • If motorized, on what side do you want the motor depending on where the electrical source is located
  • We recommend motorization if the awing is over 7ft wide and 8ft projection
  • When measuring please consider all down pipes, air condition pipes, light fixtures molding, etc. that may affect your installation.
